Wade Harlow

Twenty-six, two semesters of art school, day shift retail. The roads keep picking him, and a ledger at a Lucky's holds half a sentence of his.

Designation
HARLOW, WADE
Class
Relay
First seen
Highway 40, mile marker 237
Status
Active

"Subject designation: Harlow, Wade. Age twenty-six. Art school, two semesters, withdrawn. Employment: day shift, retail, unremarkable."

GZS Radio reads the file out like that. It adds a known associate, Sarah, surname "removed from record at associate's request."

Fields

He drew people. "I quit drawing when she went in."

He works the floor at a craft store and faces out the good paper by register four. Pads by the hundred. He hasn't opened one.

Left palm: a zero with a line through it, healed in ninety seconds. "That's the leash."

Network classification: "relay. Status: active."

The road keeps choosing him

Ellis Road, where he was offered three moves and "received a fourth."

A Lucky's, where he took the exit on purpose.

Lenora, Kansas, where a woman called him by name. "I hadn't told her my name." The sign out of town had one more person on it.

At the Lucky's the Night Manager took ninety seconds of his mouth. Half a sentence is held there for pickup, in a green ledger, and a word sits sealed behind his teeth. The receipt reads PAID and the rest of the paper is blank.

A man in the back booth gave him one rule for the road: "Get their name before you sit. No name, no stay."

Not on file

What he said in the ninety seconds. Who the sentence is for. Why the roads keep picking a man with a day job.

Standing

Active. Still driving.

Source of record: Cleared. Revised 2026-10-18.
