Every road has one, and it's the same one.
The Courier is the road's egregore. Some call it Linkman. Its frequency is 36.
Faces
It's "made of the faces of lost travelers but isn't them." It wears them. "It knows the story behind each face it wears."
Nobody has counted the faces, or written down whose came first.
One entity
"Like Hexorius, it's on every road, and every local one is the same entity." Hexorius has the cities. The Courier has the miles between them: the interstate, the state route, the county two-lane with no shoulder and no lights, the frontage road nobody bothered to name, all of it, one entity the whole way.
Custodian
Every liminal space has a custodian, and a road is a liminal space you can drive. This is the road's.
The older tradition never gave the road one. This one was made for it.
Standing
On every road.
Run out of gas on one and it may turn up wearing a face. With a stranded human it introduces itself as Miles.
