Stillwell, Indiana

A small Indiana town where all five jurisdictions touch in a dead hospital's chapel. There's a second town underneath.

Designation: Stillwell, Indiana
Class: Town, Indiana
First seen: Stillwell
Jurisdiction: The Middle

A dead hospital is "the worst possible version of this location type," and Stillwell, Indiana, has one.

Hospitals are thin-veil places: healing spirits, closeness to death. Stillwell's has a chapel, and the chapel is a vertical intersection. All five jurisdictions touch there, and The Vertical Structure names them.

The chapel

It's a crime scene, too. Every crime scene Verone investigates is a site of violent crime, and the site's magickal resonance is how he gets into the case.

What's in the chapel is filed under The Stillwell Case.

The cemetery

Below access runs through the city cemetery. Cemeteries carry ancestor spirits, communication with the Below, necromantic current and old debts.

Under the streets

Stillwell Below. "Not a separate universe; the town's hidden underside."

The True Mage line built it from the haunted infrastructure of the town's abandoned and failed places, and the way into it runs under the city, never through a fantasy gate.

It has a spirit that speaks for it.
