"A servitor's big sibling." A thoughtform kept running by a group's combined belief.
A servitor is built by one person for one job. An egregore is fed by a crowd, and it "grows more autonomous and harder to control the more people feed it."
Every spell feeds something. Enough people feed the same one long enough and it argues back.
On file
The Mantle. The True Mage's office is the nearest case to the definition: a "consensus organism," belief in someone who cleans up after gods die. It has a current address. "The belief chose its own address."
The Happy Face Monster. "Corporate egregore wearing the idea of a mascot as flesh." It is an idea first, so "the idea is harder to kill than the body."
Stillwell Below. The town's hidden underside is the same kind of thing: a city "dreamed so long by so many that the dream keeps its own books." Hexorius is the face it puts on when it has to talk. A Below is one of the "egregores that got old and heavy enough to argue back."
Risk
Age is the risk. Ritual magick carries it in plain terms: "Old egregores can hijack the operator."
Standing
Ongoing. Nobody's stopped feeding them.
